June 2017

This has been an outstandingly busy spring at all 3 of our classrooms – Water Street, the Farm House, and the Barn studio!

Weave for the Swedish Kitchen in May

A feast of color and joy describes our Kitchens class this year! Our industrious group chose beautiful colors for their own warps and wove placemats, runners, napkins, aprons, towels and other tantalizing tidbits. 5 beautiful aprons materialized under Lisa Hill’s cheerful tutelage in our sewing corner. Swedish Rag Rugs & Bands in the Barn

What a fun group of rag rug weavers came to class – many from the same spinning guild!  On Wednesday morning, as their beautiful rugs were being finished and fringed, we started our Bands in the Barn class. The overlap kept Becky jumping, but what a wonderful, and large group, shared lunch that day! The band weavers were industrious and as enthusiastic as the rag rug weavers had been. With nearly 30 different little projects to choose from on rigid heddle back strap looms, band looms, and floor looms, they were able to work on as many different techniques as possible. Drawloom and Vävstuga Treasures

Toni and Bettes wove some incredible tablecloth linens at our Farmhouse Drawloom studio during our Swedish Kitchens class and Brangwyn and Gail were busy at the Farmhouse during our Bands in the Barn class.   IMG_2033 IMG_2013nsmail-36nsmail-39

Tonya’s amazing alphabet

IMG_2269   A is for amazing, B is for brilliant, C is for creative… all the way to Z is for zippy! Tonya’s latest endeavor is an animal alphabet woven on a single unit drawloom. Can you figure out the correct name of each critter? Some of them are tricky!

Barn Benefit Festival

The semicircle of looms, spinning wheels and a cauldron dye bath was a magical entrance to an afternoon full of fiber, music, food and fulfillment. IMG_2094 Our weaving sale was a smashing success, raising funds for the Fabric of Life 501(C)3,and folks who came got terrific deals. As our program for this annual festival continues to expand, we encourage you to keep it in mind for next year. IMG_2126IMG_2134IMG_2124
