    New books available now

We offer you two more wonderful books on Rosepath by Anna Östlund. We presented her delightful 3rd book, Från Januariblues till Decemberröd (From January Blues to December Reds) in our June News, so some of you may already know how wonderful her work is. We are pleased to offer her first and second books which are now in stock on our shelves: Rosengång Berättelser Historik Vävar (Rosepath – Stories, History, Weavings) and Rosengång I Varmvalsverket (Rosepath in a Hot Strip Mill).

We are also happy to announce that Praktisk Vävbok is back in print and back in stock on our shelves! This reprint of a Swedish book of drafts from the late 1800s is a real treat. It has 50 pages of drafts, including several 6-shaft weaves and over 150 8-shaft twill variations.

    August Classes

img_9671-001img_9787-001img_9672-002Our recent Swedish Classics classes had a great time weaving rosepath, among other beautiful structures as shown.

While our 2017 Swedish Classics class is fully enrolled, we encourage our Basics Alumni to consider the 2017 More Swedish Classics class for some equally lovely projects.

Participants in our Linens: Seed to Cloth class experienced the process of preparing flax from ground retting, to spinning, to weaving with linen at our bucolic Farm Studio and Flax House. Join us in August, 2017 for this wonderful class.

Fall 2016 Classes for our Basics Alumni

For those of you who can be spontaneous, we have a bit of space in our Nordic Classics class next week (Sept 26-30)! The projects are interesting, challenging, and beautiful! Pictured here are Finnish Opphämta, Enkel Skillbragd from Norway, Treadled Leno from Sweden, and Gagnefdrus – a Swedish honeycomb. There is also a 12-shaft figured fabric from Denmark and the 4-shaft Swedish Halvdräll with its interesting block threading.

There is also room in our October 17-20th Flamboyant Blankets class. This is an opportunity to weave a luxurious weft-faced, 8-shaft blanket of your own design.

    Väv Immersion Program 2017

This amazing 15-week intensive weaving class offers challenging projects, extensive theory classes, and a broad variety of topics of interest to weaving students. All this in an idylic rural farm house setting with delicious home-cooked meals. The program begins on Tuesday, September 5th, right after Labor Day weekend 2017, and runs through December 15th.

Vävstuga is partnering with Fabric of Life 501(c)3 to fulfill our mission of offering the Väv Immersion program. You can see pictures and read more about the program at both of the above links. Last year Fabric of Life was honored to receive grant funding from the Ddora Foundation which enabled need-based scholarship assistance to applicants ages 18-35. We hope to be able to do so again for the 2017 program and will let you know when we have more information later this fall. There will also be some work-study options available. We are currently finalizing some of the application details for the program, but if you have any questions, please contact us.

We look forward to your visits

Join us at Vävstuga for a great class, visit our store (Tues–Fri 9–3) or our web store any time, and check out our Facebook page and Ravelry group.
