NEW PRODUCTS TO INTRODUCE!

Tuna Sock Kit

Our weaving yarns make great KNITTING YARNS! Moosey and Socks Becky’s friend “Moosey” is hard at work knitting up some beautiful socks using our Tuna Wool Sock Kit which includes a great knitting pattern customized for us by Beth Brown-Reinsel of Knitting Traditions in Vermont. We also suggest you try our Åsborya yarn for some great twined mittens. Yarns designed for weaving tend to have a tighter twist, making them ideal for sturdy and long-lasting knitted goods in traditional styles. Modern knitting yarns tend to be on the softer side, not always best for longevity. If you put in all that work, why not make a product that will last?  Try out our yarns for knitting and let us know what you think! Our Tuna Sock Kit is available by calling the office at 413-625-8241. It will soon be on our web store as well. The kit includes the pattern for the socks shown here and 2 skeins of contrasting colors of Tuna yarn. You can see the beautiful colors on our web store, then call to order.

Our own strong, hand-tooled beads are now available for both the Countermarch and new Counterbalance conversion kits. Bead packs alone are more economical than texsolv pegs and you can order these items on our web store: vavstuga-tieup-kit-8cm_300x300  vavstuga-tieup-kit-4cb_300x300   vavstuga-tieup-beads-black_300x300  vavstuga-tieup-beads-white

Vävstuga Loom Bumpers

Loom Bumber Our Vävstuga tools department has fashioned yet another item for your weaving convenience. Our “Loom Bumpers” keep your loom from traveling across the room as you weave.  Those of you who have enjoyed weaving in our studio have already seen how useful these Loom Bumpers are when your loom is located near a wall.

CLASSES

Classes have been rolling along this season, keeping us busy with three Vävstuga Basics classes so far, along with our Väv Immersion program. All of these have been providing wonderful experiences for us, as well as for the students! Coming up in April: We still have a couple of spots in our Saturday, April 9th Wool Combing Workshop with Gina Gerhard. Call the office to enroll. In May our focus turns to Drawloom weaving and there are still a few Drawloom & Linen Treasures projects available to our Alumni. Looking ahead to June: We have space in our Rag Rugs class, June 13-15 and our Bands in the Barn class, June 15-17. Enroll in both and stay for the week!  We’re also offering a Summer Weaving Workshop for ages 10-Adult, July 11-15. Do you know a pre-teen or teen with whom you’d like to share a wonderful week of weaving?! Our delightful apprentice, Tonya, has also been weaving up a storm! In March she completed several fabulous double weave blankets, a fine cotton “tulip” fabric for an Easter skirt, and a gorgeous Opphämta runner!   IMG_1197 IMG_1208 IMG_8020    Tonya opphamta
