Flamboyant Blankets

Cozy, brilliant, & luxurious

Instructor: Becky Ashenden

Dates offered 2016: Oct 17–20

In this class we invite any weaver comfortable with eight shafts and treadles to come learn how to design and weave one of these beautiful blankets. If you have been in the upstairs dormitory at Vävstuga, you may have noticed, or even asked about, the blankets that are on the comfy chairs up there. Our students always ask about these enticing blankets, and this class is inspired from these very inquiries.

A special weft-faced technique produces a thick and luxurious blanket, with front and back sides showing two different colors and patterns. You will have the opportunity to choose a block design and will receive coaching with your color and pattern choices for weaving.

Warps will be beamed ahead of time, allowing students to thread their design and tie up the loom on the first day, leaving two full days to weave the blanket.
