Special workshop: birch bark baskets
Lark Leonard, who taught a wonderful straw ornament workshop for us last year, will join us again to teach a class in making a small woven birch bark basket in the Scandinavian tradition. The class will take place Sunday, June 29, 10 AM - 5 PM. Class size is limited, so contact us soon so as not to miss this opportunity.
Vävstuga Club
Completion of the Vävstuga Basics or Weaver's Choice makes you eligible to join the Vävstuga Club. Club members are welcome to come and take advantage of the studio during designated club days. You may need to schedule activities ahead to guarantee accessibility. Becky will be at the studio from 9:00-10:00 AM on club days to assist members in getting started for the day. Members will be allowed to weave until the shop closes at 5:00 PM.
Member activities include:
- Weave: Come weave for a day or more at the studio. Leftover warps from the previous class projects will be available, as well as projects we prepare especially for club members. We ask that you stick to projects within your scope of prior experience and spend one or two days on a loom to complete a substantial project. We are providing the opportunity for you to weave beautiful things in a social setting, a rarity in our American culture.
- Wind a warp: Use our materials and equipment to wind a warp to take home. You will have access to our broad palette of colors in our vast array of quality Swedish yarns. This will allow you to use many colors in your warp without having to buy more yarn than you need.
- Library: Come use our extensive library for your research and inspiration. Books are not allowed out of the classroom. Blank project sheets will be provided for members to copy drafts onto by hand. Books may not be photocopied.
- Cold Mangle: Members are welcome use the cold mangle.
- Socials: There will be a few social gatherings for members throughout the year.
If you would like to come for an extended stay, see our rooming information for Room without board. No meals will be served but you are welcome to use the upstairs kitchen to fix your own meals. There are also several delightful restaurants in town.
One-year membership: $150
